Last June 2017, the government started with the construction of the CALAX
or the Cavite-Laguna Expressway. Almost a year after, let's take a look at
the progress of the said project.
The DPWH, together with the Metro Pacific Tollways South Corporation or MPT
South recently conducted a site inspection the CALAX Laguna segment.
The entire CALAX project is a 45-kilometer stretch with eight interchanges
and one main toll barrier, with the Laguna segment occupying 18 kilometers.
The DPWH says that said segment of the CALAX project will be a big help to
the motorists going to and from the industrial areas of Laguna.
However, the right of way issues for the Laguna segment are still being
processed.
According to the MPT South, they are aiming to complete the construction of
the Laguna segment by the end of the year.
On the other hand, with regard to the status of the construction of the
Cavite segment, the MPT South is also still currently handling the "right
of way" issues. According to the agency, they are hoping that the
government will deliver portions of the right of way by April as well.
From the start, the government is saying that the CALAX will reduce the
travel time from CAVITEX to SLEX by 45 minutes. Years from now, the
motoring public is expecting to witness exactly that.
