There are hearsays that the processing time on getting a driver's license
will take a year. Well, that's pretty long, but how true is this? We
clarified this matter with the agency involved.
The Land Transportation Office or LTO denied the rumors that it will take a
year before an applicant can get and secure a driver's license after all
requirements are submitted to the office. The agency clarifies that the
one-year processing time is not for the application but for the actual
production of licenses.
However, the LTO admits that the processing may be delayed due to system
glitches as well as the volume of applicants. With this, the agency says
that they are coming up with solutions to avoid further backlogs.
The agency also acknowledges the possibilities of applicants transacting
with fixers for a faster releasing of their driver's license. The LTO
reminds the public to follow the rules and regulations of the agency
instead of seeking help from fixers.
The driver's licenses backlog has been an issue for years now. We do hope
that the government especially the LTO could address this issue the soonest
possible time.
